Minor characters of Inuyasha

Mayu

Name: Mayu

The ghost of a child who died in a fire, Mayu was caught in a vengeful act by Kagome. Though he didn't want to help, Inuyasha at least made sure that Mayu didn't succeed at killing her brother. Kagome had to save Mayu's spirit before she earned herself a trip to hell, via the Tatarimokke Express. She did so by helping Mayu's spirit release her anger and regret over the circumstances of her death.

Menoumaru

Name: Menoumaru

Menoumaru was the main antagonist in the first Inuyasha movie. A very powerful moth demon, he and his two minions, Ruri and Hari, attacked every member of the Yasha gang. Menoumaru not only attempted to kill Inuyasha by using Kagome's body as a puppet (a traumatic experience in itself), but he also tricked Inuyasha into breaking the seal on his ancestor's power using Tessaiga's Kaze no Kizu. Now very hard to beat, Menoumaru grew to an enormous size, but Inuyasha performed his Baku Ryu-Ha [Grand Sword Style] attack on Menoumaru, and killed him! Everything worked out in the end.

Midoriko

Name: Midoriko

A very powerful priestess that existed hundreds of years ago, she fought demons, purifying their souls to destroy them. The Yasha gang found her crystallized corpse in a cave near Sango's village. Everything is made up of four souls (Shikon literally translates to "four souls")--Arami Tama (Courage), Nikimi Tama (Friendship), Fushigi Tama (Wisdom), and Sakimi Tama (Love). When they gather together, they become "our" heart/spirit. When they work properly, people are naobi [straight, upright]. Those who drift away from Good are called magatsuhito [?]. Ages ago in a more dangerous time, Midoriko's final battle lasted for seven days and nights. The demonic army finally got a hold on her, but she used the last of her power to extract their souls and seal them into her own heart, which was ejected out of her body. This became the Shikon no Tama. So inside the Shikon, her soul still battles with the unpurified souls of the demons that she sealed inside.

Momiji and Botan

Name: Momiji and Botan

These two girls (NOT in the manga) were tricked by Tsubaki into battling the Yasha gang while she conjured up an ancient ogre to aid her in fighting them. The two girls sent these little paper men to take strands of hair from Inuyasha and Kagome so that they could make huge chibi replicas of them. Inuyasha didn't have too much trouble killing the huge chibis. They later apologized for attacking once they found out that their idol was a black-magic-user.

Mukadejourou

Name: Mukadejourou

A short-lived but very important character. This centipede demon was the one drawn to the Shikon no Tama in Kagome's body when she ventured near the Bone-Gobbling well (the portal between present day Japan and feudal Japan). After this centipede chased Kagome all over feudal Japan, Kagome's cry for help woke up Inuyasha (he must be connected directly to Kagome's soul or something O_o). Kagome took out the arrow sealing Inuyasha, and he proceeded to exterminate Mukadejourou.

Mukotsu

Name: Mukotsu

A member of the Shichinintai [Seven-Man Group], this little man is very ugly, so he subsequently can't get a woman...at least, not by ethical means. He kidnaps Kagome, seeing as how she's so pretty, and uses his skills with poisons to paralyze her and force her through a wedding ceremony, but he is thankfully interrupted by Sesshoumaru, who is only there to ask if Inuyasha can "come out to play." Mukotsu mistakingly thinks that he can defeat Sesshoumaru with his poisons, but Sesshoumaru kills him like one would squash a fly.

Muonna

Name: Muonna

This demon consists of the forsaken souls of mothers who have lost children in wars. When Sesshoumaru and Jaken were trying to find the location of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha's father's grave, they had Muonna use an illusion to trick Inuyasha into thinking that his mother had been reincarnated. Muonna was supposed to probe his soul for the answer, and when she got it, she was allowed to absorb Inuyasha. Kagome rescued Inuyasha from such a fate, and when Sesshoumaru was about to deal a blow to Inuyasha, Muonna took the hit for Inuyasha since she felt that he was her child.

Muotoko

Name: Muotoko

A demon very similar to Muonna, Muotoko is the result of the lost souls of men who have died in the wars of the Sengoku Jidai. He was hired by Jaken in a filler episode to try to steal Inuyasha's Tessaiga. The Muotoko is a pretty stupid demon, though, and pretty much failed at it. After the Yasha gang retrieved their things from him, they told him to stop doing such petty crimes, and he wandered off, muttering to himself.

Mushin

Name: Mushin

This constantly-inebraited monk is Miroku's guardian. Since Miroku's father literally imploded due to the Kazaana curse when Miroku was a small child, he was taken care of by this drunken monk. Though slightly irresponsible, Mushin is loving and knowledgeable.

Musou

Name: Musou

When Onigumo joined with hundreds of demons to form Naraku, Naraku was the combined mind of the demons, and Onigumo's mind was "shut off." Naraku tried to ditch this last "human" part of himself later, and Musou is the result. However, Naraku's attempt to completely ditch Onigumo was unsuccessful, for a part of Onigumo still remained, preventing Naraku from killing Kikyou since Onigumo's love for her prevents Naraku from harming her. In the end, Naraku reabsorbed Musou so that he could one day completely break away from his human side once he was powerful enough to purge all of Onigumo.
