Minor characters of Inuyasha

Ayame

Name: Ayame

This female wolf demon doesn't exist in the manga, but she appeared in episode 83 of the anime. She grew up and trained on the mountains to the north, but returned to the southern plains to make good on a promise that Kouga gave her: to be his wife. Now needing his leadership and the power from his Shikon shards, she wishes to marry him and entrust her tribe to his capable hands. Kouga, for a while, doesn't even remember who she is or when he made this promise. It isn't until later that he remembers. Will he forever love Kagome and scorn Ayame, or will he come to his senses and leave Kagome alone? Who knows... Ayame is still cute, though.

Bankotsu

Name: Bankotsu

The 17-year-old leader of the Shichinintai [Seven-Man Group], he is very sadistic, but at times is also like a big kid. He is closest to Jakotsu, but everyone in the group calls him aniki [big brother]. He makes a deal with Naraku to make trouble for the Yasha gang while Naraku is busy inside Mount Hakurei, perfecting his body. In return, Naraku promises everlasting life. Bankotsu's favored weapon is his beloved halberd, Banryuu. In the end, Inuyasha defeats him and removes the Shikon shard in his neck that's keeping him alive.

Bokusenou

Name: Bokusenou

When we first see Bokusenou, Sesshoumaru has come to speak with him about Tessaiga, Inuyasha's inherited sword. Bokusenou is a tree demon who is very old and very knowledgable despite the fact that he seems to be rooted to the spot. He donated a few of his branches to make the scabbard for Tessaiga, which is why the scabbard has some magical properties of its own. He reveals to Sesshoumaru that Tessaiga is a guardian sword for Inuyasha, and that it keeps Inuyasha's demonic blood from consuming his mind.

Bunza

Name: Bunza

This character did not appear in the manga, but he certainly did meet Inuyasha in the anime series. When Inuyasha went to Toutousai for training with his sword, he met Bunza, who also came to get training, but for entirely different reasons. Bunza was annoying at first, but they became good friends, and Inuyasha even got the chance to help out Bunza's tribe.

Buyo

Name: Buyo

Buyo is the Higurashi family cat. Fat, weird-looking, and funny, the cat serves simply as a comic relief, but I must admit that some of the funny things he does are cute, too. One thing important to note: if Kagome hadn't gone into the building that housed the Bone-Gobbling Well to help Souta find Buyo, she may not have been dragged into it by Mukadejourou, the centipede demon.

Eri, Arimi and Yuka

Name: Eri, Arimi and Yuka

These three girls (all living in present time) are Kagome's friends. They like to pester Kagome about her love life, and all they know of Inuyasha is that he's "violently jealous." They also try to get her to go out with Houjou-kun, but that's a lost cause.

Eshi

Name: Eshi

He was a very ambitious human who got his hands on a Shikon shard, and used its incredible power to bring life to his paintings of ungodly beasts and hellish ogres. His ambition killed him in the end when he was desperate to save his hellish ink after Inuyasha managed to get the shard from him, and let his ink drink his own blood. They drank so much that they ended up killing him.

Fake Suijin

Name: Fake Suijin

As the name suggests, this snake demon stole the deity's weapon (Trident of Amakoi) of a water goddess and sealed her into a prison (in mini-form, no less). Posing as the real Suijin, he forced local villagers to bring him their children as sacrifices, threatening them with floods if they didn't do as they asked. The Yasha gang came upon this village, and were hired by a little kid, Taroumaru, to save the latest sacrifice, Suekichi. The Yasha gang helped (only because Inuyasha thought a Shikon shard might be involved), but he returned the trident to its rightful owner.

Gatenmaru

Name: Gatenmaru

This womanly-looking demon was from episode 51. He plundered a village that the Yasha gang has just visited, and when Inuyasha and Miroku came to help, he tried to take Inuyasha's sword from him. Severely wounding Inuyasha, and having separated him from Tessaiga, he managed to bring out Inuyasha's full-demon form, and got his ass ripped to shreds. Oh well.. so much for moth demons.

Ginkotsu

Name: Ginkotsu

This member of the Shichinintai [Seven-Man Group] is actually pretty mindless. He and fellow Shichinintai member Renkotsu are into guns and the more modern kinds of warfare. While Renkotsu looks more human, Ginkotsu's body is tricked out like a James Bond vehicle. By the end of the Shichinintai arc, he has received enough upgrades to qualify as a living tank. He can comfortably seat four adults, has the power to smash rocks, and can launch spinning circular sawblades of death! He was defeated, though, when Inuyasha blew him up.
