What is Inuyasha?
Inuyasha is a popular anime series that is exploding with action, humor, romance, and surprises. It is very light-hearted with a masterfully presented dark side.

Brief Description of Inuyasha
Inuyasha is in many ways a typical Rumiko Takahashi anime--many fans love Takahashi's work, but others are put off by her storytelling style. Though the series is long and frequently circuitous, it has a vast and interesting cast. This anime provides a solid balance of comedy (driven mainly by slapstick and running jokes about characters' quirks), action and love triangles galore. Inuyasha started running in 2000, and later went on to spawn four movies and a television special.

Scenerio
When Kagome Higurashi accidentally falls down a well located on the grounds of her family's shrine, she discovers a world filled with sorcerers and dangerous demons--feudal Japan. There Kagome encounters Inuyasha, a boorish but kind-hearted half-demon, and begins searching for the shards of the sacred jewel with which her fate has become inextricably entwined.

Basic Story
Long ago, in Japan's era of the "Warring States," a legendary doglike halfdemon called Inuyasha attempted to steal the Shikon Jewel, or the Jewel of Four Souls from a village. However he was stopped by the dying priestess Kikyo, who shot his with a magic arrow, putting him into a deep sleep. Centuries later a girl called Kagome falls into an old well and is transported back in time to 50 years after Kikyo's death. There she awakens Inuyasha and is discovered to be the reincarnation of Kikyo. The Shikon Jewel is also found to be hidden in her body. Later, due to a twist of fate the Jewel is shattered. Now Inuyasha and Kagome must travel to find the shards and prevent them from being posessed by demons.

Anime
Inuyasha was recently made into an anime. It began playing on 16th October 2000. The first opening song is called "Change the World" and is sung by V6, the second is "I am" by Hitomi. The first closing song is "My Will", sung by Dreams, while the second closing song was "Fukai Mori" by Do As Infinity (Fukai Mori means "Deep Forest"). As per usual there are slight changes in the story from the manga, however, it looks as though it's following the same basic story.
